Forgive and Asking For Forgiveness

Forgive and asking for forgiveness is very easy to say but it is not so easy to do it. To some people it is easy for them to give forgiveness but for them it is not easy to ask for forgiveness. Otherwise to some people they are easy to ask for forgiveness but they are not easy to forgive. Most people are difficult to forgive and difficult to ask for forgiveness.

I] The Boss Is Not Always Right

Don’t be like a father in this story. One day his small children while playing with his brother and sisters in the house felt thirsty and took a glass of plain water to drink. After she took a sip she put the glass near the door where they were playing. Their father who was in bed room at that time came out to see the television at that was on the air, and in his hurriedly he kicked the glass unintended. The glass was broken into pieces and the water in the glass was splashed and wet the carpet nearby.

He was very angry, berated his children who put the glass at that place. “Who put the glass there? You are stupid ass. The glass should be put in the kitchen, not there. Who teach you to put there?”

All his children who were happily playing kept quite. They were very afraid of their angered father. “You must take all the broken glass and throw it in the dustbin. Next time don’t do it again”. Their father ordered them in the hard voice.

The next day the father while looking at television had a glass off lemon juice for drink. He carelessly put the glass on the carpet near his foot while sitting on the settee. Suddenly one off his elder kids came to has a sit beside him. But unluckily he kicked his father glass that full off lemon juice. But the glass was not broken, and only the juice splashed on the carpet.

The father was very angry. He scolded his son for mishap. “Are you blind”, and added “You did not see such a big glass? You must clean the carpet now. Go to the kitchen and ask your mother to make another juice for me. Next time be careful, you should open your eyes widely”.

The father is a type of man who did dot wanted to admit his mistake. He liked to put the blame to another man the wrong he did. He should take responsible for what his has done. He should not think that “the boss is always right”, because “the boss does not always right”. It is very wrongly to blame other for what we are doing. We should admit our fault. We are not super human that clean from head to toe from any mistake. In fact we do mistakes in our daily life.

11] He hit the woman

I am very surprised reading a story in the daily about a woman who was ridding a motorbike to her office involved in an accident with another motorbike ridden by a young man. The young man and his motorbike felt down on the road.

When the woman aware that the man felt down she turned back to help the man and to ask for forgiveness because she knew that it was her fault. But the man who was not seriously injured stood up and hit repeatedly the woman body with his helmet. Luckily some passers by gave their hand for help and brought the woman to the hospital for medical treatment.

Most of us felt very shameful to read the story. It was an act of gangster. Lately so many people took the law in their hands. They did whatever they want to do on the road. It is very sad.

III] The story of Prophet Yusuf as

In the al-Quran Allah told a true story about Prophet Yusuf as. He was very badly maltreatments by all his brothers. He was thrown in the deep and dark well far in the jungle. Before leaving the place, his brothers stoned him in the well. Then he was left alone to death.

But with the help of Al-Mighty God he was saved and lived with a wazir or prime minister of Egypt. Then Zulaikha the wife off the prime minister who was very fascinated to his good looking defamed him. She claimed Yusuf tried to molest her. He was betray and was put in jail without trial.

At last he was freed and he became one the senior ministers in Egypt. Although he was very badly treated, but did not keep any deep hatred, or take revenge to his brothers or to Zulaikha. When he became Economic Minister of Egypt, he was very longing to see his brothers. He wanted to meet his family, mostly his old father. Allah Al-Mighty granted his wishes to see them.

Prophet Yusuf as did not take any revenge on them. Yusuf as attend them goodly with love. He forgave them and the treat them with respect. He put out the unhappy memory from his heart. They lived happily forever.

Most of us when we read or heard the story about Prophet of Yusuf as in the al-Quran like to compared themselves as Prophet Yusuf as with his bad destiny. We like to assumed that our fate are similar with Prophet Yusuf as. That have been humiliated and mistreated by our family or our friends that made our life in chaos.

Why we did not assumed that we are similar with his naughty brothers that made the life of Prophet Yusuf as in chaotic. Do we think that we are the good person and the other bad?

We forget the generosity of Prophet Yusuf as to forgive all his bad brothers who had put him into big troubles and separated him from his loved father.

IV] The story of Prophet Adam as

The Prophet Adam as is a very good example of the man who willing to ask for forgiveness for his misconduct. Allah told in the al-Quran at that time Adam as and his wife lived in a Garden or paradise.

Allah said:

“Oh Adam! Dwell thou and thy wife in the Garden, and enjoy [its good things], as ye wish; but approach not this tree, or ye run into harm and transgression”.

“Then began Satan to whisper suggestions to them, bringing openly before their minds all their shame that was hidden from them [before]: he said: “Your Lord only forbade you this tree, lest ye should become angels or such beings as live for ever.

“And he swore to them both, that he was their sincere adviser.

“So by deceit he brought about their fall: when they tested of the tree, their shame became manifest to them, and they began to sew together the leaves of the Garden over their bodies. And their Lord called unto them: “Did I not forbid you that tree, and tell you that Satan was an avowed enemy unto you?”. Al-A’raf: 19-22.

Adam as. did not blamed his wife Eve for the wrongdoings they have done, neither blamed Satan who had deceit them to contravene their Lord. They admit that they did it on their on accord, and they asked Allah to pardon them. This is good example to pray for forgiveness from God.

Allah said in the al-Quran:

“They said, “Our Lord! We have wronged our own souls: if Thou forgive us not and bestow not upon us Thy Mercy, we shall certainly be lost”. Al-A’raf: 23.

Then their Lord said to them:

“[God] said: “Get ye down, with enmity between yourself. On earth will be your dwelling-place and your means livelihood-for a time”.

“He said: “Therein shall ye live, and therein shall ye die, but from it shall ye be taken out [at last]”. Al-A’raf:24-25.

V] The story of Prophet Muhammad saw.

One day the Prophet saw was very sad because his preaching to Ibnu Abdi Yalil bin Abdi Kilal was in veil. The man did not follow his instructions. The sadness was clearly depicted on his face.

On the way back he looked up to the sky and saw that some clouds over his head. Suddenly Gabriel came and called him and told him that Allah had heard what his people said. Gabriel told the Prophet saw that Allah had sent an Angel the guard of the mountain and ready to take his order.

The Prophet heard the Angel greet him and said, “ Allah had heard what your people had answered to you. Now I am the guard of the mountain commanded by Allah to follow your wishes. If you want I can drop the two of the biggest hills over them”.

The Prophet saw did not allow the Angel to do that and said that he still hoped Allah will produce from their off spring piety people who did not associate Allah with anything.

How generous is the Prophets saw. Although he was treated unethical, immoral, disdained, rude, offend, hurt and insult and his life was in stake, but he still patient, tolerant and forgive his people and his enemy. So the Prophet saw was respected by all the people, friends and foes. His influence spread out very fast far and widely.

VI] Forgiveness

Allah said, “Hold to forgiveness; command what is right; but turn away from the ignorant”. Al-A’raf:199.

So in our life we should ready to forgive and ready to ask the forgiveness of our wrongdoings.

Allah said, “”Repel evil with that which is best: We are well acquainted with the things they say”. Al-Mu’minun: 96.
